November 1, 2017 (Toronto, ON) -- 2017 has proven to be a banner year for Canadian blues artists from coast-to-coast as the nominations for the 21st annual Maple Blues Awards have been announced. The nominees, selected by a panel consisting of industry professionals from across Canada, are recognized both for their talent as well as their contribution to the growing Canadian blues music scene
In keeping with the mandate of promoting and preserving blues music, as well as introducing blues music to younger fans, there are several first-time nominees including Edmonton’s Boogie Patrol for Electric Act of the Year and the five New Artist or Group of the Year nominees that include Toronto’s Bad Luck Woman & Her Misfortunes, St. John’s Earle & Coffin, Victoria’s Jason Buie, Montreal’s Justin Saladino Band and the Ottawa-based Lucas Haneman Express.

Earle and Coffin win the 2017 Maritimes to
Memphis International Blues Challenge!
Earle and Coffin will be heading to Memphis in January to perform at the 2018 International Blues Challenge. The The duo earned their spot by winning the fifth annual “Maritimes to Memphis Blues Challenge” sponsored by the East Coast Blues Society on Oct 15, 2017. The 34th International Blues Challenge takes over the legendary Beale Street nightclubs and features close to two hundred acts from around the world and has launched the career of many artists including the east coasts’ own Matt Anderson.

Earle and Coffin win Canadian Folk Music Award for Young Performers of the Year for their album "Nick Earle & Joe Coffin Live at The Citadel House"

Toronto, Saturday, December 3, 2016 – The recipients of the Canadian Folk Music Awards were announced at the 12th anniversary gala event at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto, Ontario. Hosted by musicians Jean Hewson and Benoit Bourque (La Bottine Souriante) in a bilingual gala event, Canada’s folk music community came together for a fabulous evening of folk. Earle and Coffin proudly represented the province of NL by winning Young Performers of the Year for their album, "Live at Citadel House”.

Last July when Earle & Coffin were in the studio tracking their next album they took a few minutes to lay down a smooth version of the Irving Berlin, Christmas classic: White Christmas. The result is pretty fabulous. Special thanks to Wade Pinhorn for tickling the ivories on this tune.

Earle and Coffin chosen as one of 12 emerging musical artists to be filmed for the Club One New Releases series!
Stay Tuned for Fall 2016
From the twelve (12) artists/groups selected to be featured in the series, at least three (3) will be chosen from Newfoundland and Labrador to take part in additional filming in Trinidad & Tobago in March, 2017 which will pair musicians from Canada and the Caribbean together to write and perform original songs through musical fusion.
Club One New Releases is an Atlantic Canadian based on-demand TV series featured on Bell’s FibreOP TV1 network. The series highlights live musical performances as well as in-depth interviews with the artists about the writing process of their music.

Nick Earle and Joe Coffin play the blues on Burnt Hill in Norris Point

Nick Earle and Joe Coffin were the talk of Norris Point during Trails Tales Tunes 2016, quickly dubbed the Blues Brothers by festival goers. The young blues duo from the east coast of Newfoundland couldn’t be stopped. Check out this Old Crow Music Session we filmed on a bright sunny day on the Burnt Hill trail in Norris Point, NL. This is Can’t Be Satisfied, and can be found on their debut album, Live at the Citadel House.
